Rules of engagement

Play nice. Talk nice.

These rules keep the Taccor Gaming TeamSpeak a good place to hang out, for the old crew and for people who just found us. Most of it is common sense. If you'd be embarrassed doing it in a room full of friends, don't do it here.

Applies to Updated October 2026Based on the 2015 R.O.E.

00Where these apply

The rules cover everything on the Taccor Gaming TeamSpeak 3 server at : voice, text chat (server, channel and private messages), pokes, nicknames, avatars, channel names and descriptions, and any files you upload.

Everyone is welcome: first-timers and veterans, casual players and sweats, every culture, gender, age and skill level. That's exactly why the rules exist.

01Respect everyone

No discrimination

Don't single anyone out or make them feel unwelcome because of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, age, disability or perceived skill.

No harassment

No threatening, abusive, hateful or defamatory language. Banter between friends is fine. Once someone asks you to stop, it isn't banter anymore.

No offensive content

Nothing sexually explicit, graphic or deliberately offensive in voice, chat, avatars or uploads. Swearing happens, but don't aim it at people.

02Voice & chat

Use push-to-talk or a sensible threshold

Nobody wants to hear your fan, your keyboard or your family. If staff ask you to fix your mic, please do.

No mic spam

No soundboards, ear-rape, voice changers used to annoy, or music over your mic. Ask for the radio bots instead.

Don't monopolise the room

Let other people talk. In busy channels, keep side conversations to a private or temporary channel.

No spam or advertising

No repeated messages, poke spam, chain links or advertising other servers, communities or services without a staff member's OK.

03Channels & shared content

Keep channel names and descriptions reasonable

Channel names, topics, descriptions and icons are visible to everyone who joins, guests included. No slurs, sexual or graphic references, insults aimed at people, or anything you couldn't say out loud in the lobby. Staff will rename, edit or delete channels that cross the line.

Think before you share

You may not post language, imagery or links that are sexually explicit, vulgar or religiously offensive. This also includes links to pornographic, racially biased or socially unacceptable content of any kind. The same applies to files, images, avatars, screen shares and anything posted in channel descriptions.

Files and links must be safe

Only share files and links you'd open yourself. No malware, cheats, pirated software, phishing or IP grabbers, and no shortened or disguised links meant to hide where they go.

Temporary channels are for everyone

Make one whenever you need it, and it disappears when the last person leaves. The naming rules above still apply.

Respect passwords and private channels

Don't join locked or private channels uninvited, share their passwords, or try to get around them.

No channel hopping

Don't follow people from channel to channel or jump around to get attention.

Use the right channel

Need help in a hurry? If a staff member is online, the Need Help channel is the place. Otherwise email us or message us on Facebook.

04Names & identity

Keep names clean

Nicknames, avatars and descriptions follow the same rules as everything else (see Channels & shared content). Staff may rename or remove anything inappropriate.

No impersonation

Don't pretend to be a staff member, or copy someone else's nickname, tag or avatar.

The TcR tag

Wearing a TcR tag means you represent the community. Behave like it, here and in-game.

05Privacy

Never share personal information

Don't post or say anyone's real name, address, phone number, photos, IP address or other personal details without their permission.

Ask before you record

Don't record or stream other people's voices without asking the people in the channel first.

Sharing someone's personal details (doxxing) is a permanent ban. No ladder, no second chances.

06The server itself

No exploits or circumvention

Don't try to bypass permissions, kicks, bans, mutes, anti-flood protection or server groups, and don't exploit bugs in TeamSpeak or the server.

No ban evasion

Coming back on another identity or IP while banned resets your ban and makes it permanent.

Nothing illegal or malicious

No pirated software, malware, phishing links or anything illegal in South Africa.

07Playing together

We don't run game servers anymore, but plenty of games still get organised here. When you play as or with TcR:

  • Zero tolerance for cheating. Cheaters lose their TcR tag and their place on the server.
  • Don't ghost, stack teams on purpose, grief your own side or exploit game bugs.
  • Don't accuse people of cheating in public. If you think someone is, grab a clip or screenshot and tell a staff member.
  • Win or lose, be a good sport. You're wearing our name.

08Staff

Taccor Gaming staff are volunteers from the community. They enforce these rules and may ask you to do (or stop doing) something that isn't written here. Please go along with it and take any disagreement to an appeal, not the channel.

To find staff, check the Staff channel or ask in Need Help. Staff aren't always online, so for anything urgent email us or message us on Facebook. Staff decisions can be appealed (see below), but arguing in public won't help your case.

09Kicks & bans

Staff can kick, mute or ban without warning. Bans can be applied to your TeamSpeak identity, IP address or both.

Warning tag. For smaller offences you may get a Warned server group instead of a ban. It's logged by staff and stays on your profile for at least seven (7) days. If you don't commit any other offences during that time, an admin or senior moderator may remove it. Offending again while warned moves you onto the ban ladder.

Repeat offences escalate:

Offence1st2nd3rd4th5th
Harassment, discrimination or offensive content2 days1 week2 weeks1 monthPermanent
Disruption, mic spam or spam2 days1 week2 weeks1 monthPermanent
Exploits or impersonation2 days1 week2 weeks1 monthPermanent
Doxxing, ban evasion, cheating or illegal contentPermanent on the first offence

Staff may shorten or extend a ban depending on how serious things were. Minor first slips usually just get a word or a kick.

10Appeals

Think a ban was a mistake, or want a second chance? Email with:

  • the nickname you use on the server,
  • roughly when you were banned, and by whom if you know,
  • your side of the story.

One email is enough; a staff member will reply. The Managing Director can change any ban, and their decision is final.

11Good advice

Not rules, just things we've learned over the years:

  • Your identity is your responsibility. If you lend your PC or TeamSpeak identity to a friend and they get banned, so do you. Back up your identity from TeamSpeak's settings.
  • Keep your real name out of your nickname. It's safer, and nobody here will judge your gamer tag.
  • Be careful with third-party tools. Trainers, cheats and dodgy mods, even for single-player, can get your game account flagged.
  • Keep TeamSpeak and your drivers up to date. Most audio problems disappear after an update.
That's it. We want everyone to have fun, from beginners to the old guard. Good luck, have fun, and see you in the lobby. — The Taccor Gaming staff team
